The Flow collection

In The Flow Collection, Amandah L’Narte invites us into a process where preconceptions dissolve, and the act of painting becomes a dialogue between the hand, the material, and the moment. This collection embodies a commitment to releasing judgment and control, allowing the work to emerge organically from the interaction between color, canvas, and movement. The emphasis here is on tempo—maintaining a rhythmic pace where physical gestures guide the process, rather than overthinking or forcing direction. The act of painting becomes a dance, where thoughts are outpaced by the body in motion, letting instinct and intuition take the lead.

Central to this series is the repeated use of umbra as a foundational hue, a grounding element that interacts with complementary colors in both light and dark shades. The palette and textures weave through each piece, creating continuity while remaining responsive to the moment’s spontaneity. Each painting in the collection is created within a set time frame, with L’Narte imposing a rule of no further adjustments after the initial session concludes—capturing the purity of the moment without revisiting or refining it.

The Flow Collection, created in the spring of 2024 in the artist’s studio south of Stockholm, is an expression of curiosity and openness, celebrating what can emerge when the predetermined is left behind. With titles such as Blå Våg, Vurma, and Jordeliv, these works speak to the transient beauty of the creative process itself, born out of an undefined space of exploration and anticipation.
